Different Types of Currency

Around the world, people use many different types of currency.  Currency allows us to buy products that we need.  It also allows us to invest in different companies.  Currency from some countries is worth more than currency from other countries.  For example, 1 Euro is worth 1.15 US dollars.  Before you travel to a country with different currency, you must convert your money.

Here are some examples of currency.

The Euro is used in most European countries.  The notes are colorful and their are many different kinds of coins.

In the United States, the currency is in dollar bills.  These notes look green and white.  There are also coins, but not as many as in Europe.  There are quarters worth 25 cents, dimes worth 10 cents, nickels worth 5 cents, and pennies worth 1 cent.

Sometimes you can find a 2 dollar bill, but these are extremely rare.

The currency in the United Kingdom is the pound.  They have pictures of different royalty on their notes.  One pound is worth 1.36 Euros.  There are also different coins.
